About the EAC Workshop
The Essentials of Ambulatory Care (EAC) Workshop brings together trainees in Pediatrics, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Ambulatory Pharmacy, Psychology, and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs. The workshop is designed to teach the principles of interprofessional teamwork, systems thinking, the patient-centered healthcare home model, and patient-centered communication strategies. The workshop includes engaging activities including role-play, practicing a team huddle, escape room, and small and large group discussions.
EAC Workshop Learning Objectives
- Learn from, with, and about other health professionals in the ambulatory care setting. Describe the roles of different team members and identify characteristics that contribute to the effectiveness of teams.
- Analyze how social determinants of health (SDOH) affect patient outcomes and care coordination in the ambulatory setting.
- Identify and describe practical tools and strategies to enhance communication within healthcare teams, including patient communication.
- List the patient-centered health care home elements and describe how the model supports the quadruple aim.
The Center for Interprofessional Health in collaboration with the IMPACT faculty team hosts four EAC workshops each academic year. Trainees are assigned by their program director to attend a workshop based on rotation schedules within their programs.
