Interprofessional Student Spotlight
"By helping understand one's own identity while fostering partnerships that bridge the gap between other roles, interdisciplinary activities are essential for training future health care providers to collaboratively tackle complex health issues together. And that’s the beauty of it — we’re not in it alone. We are privileged to improve health outcomes for our patients together. Interprofessional experiences have been vital to this aim. Whether developing innovative solutions to inequities surrounding racial disparities in CLARION’s Interprofessional Case Competition, increasing the utilization of state and federal aid, supplement programs, and community health resources at the Phillip’s Neighborhood Clinic, or promoting food security and nutrition education using a cultural framework alongside the Nutrition Experiential Learning & Advocacy student group, engaging in activities that span across professions has enhanced my training at the University of Minnesota — an institution whose commitment to interprofessional education make experiences like these possible.”
