Interprofessional Student Spotlights
“One of my favorite aspects of interprofessional activities is the ability to work as a team. Having an opportunity to work through case studies and discuss treatment ideas from many different angles not only enhances my understanding of excellent patient care, but it also humbles me as a provider due to my ability to treat only so far as my own education and experience. These activities have widened my perspective of care team roles and abilities and how we can support one another as we take on challenging endeavors. I have learned that our own job satisfaction and patient outcomes increase significantly if we establish strong relationships with our colleagues, communicate effectively, and demonstrate empathy as we strive to gain a holistic view. As I step into my career, I know that my interprofessional education provides me with the responsibility to lead my colleagues in seeking understanding of our patients as people and treating them with dignity. I know that I can choose to care for my patients well by prioritizing their goals and discussing the best options for care with them and their other providers.”
