Master of Healthcare Administration Candidate
Interprofessional Student Spotlight
“Being involved in interprofessional experiences has allowed me to form meaningful relationships while networking with other professionals, and has helped me develop vital skills to being a future health care leader. The opportunity to learn about other programs and professions while practicing the forms of partnership we will see in our future careers has been invaluable. Working with other health care professions has displayed the numerous ways that we can work together to improve a variety of work in our field. Interprofessional collaboration in coursework, volunteer activities, and other programs has enhanced my learning experience by providing structured exposure to other professions while preparing us for the challenges we will face in our careers. One example of this is the Phillips Neighborhood Clinic, which provides students from all health care professions the opportunity to collaborate as a team to provide essential care to an unserved and marginalized community. As a future health care administrator, I will utilize these experiences and relationships to make more informed and holistic decisions that account for the perspectives of all stakeholders. Interprofessional collaboration has equipped me with the tools to leverage the strengths of other professions and team members to improve the health of our communities. Patient care and population health are best achieved in working together and benefiting from the unique perspectives and experiences that each profession brings to the table.”
