Interprofessional Student Spotlight

“Interprofessional activities allow students to become more familiar with the tools and resources available to provide holistic, comprehensive care to each and every one of the patients that they encounter. They also allow students to strengthen their communication and teamwork skills in low risk or no risk settings so that they can be better prepared to care for patients during clinicals and in future practice. The interprofessional activities that I have participated in have allowed me to recognize that one cannot expect a sole individual to be responsible for providing comprehensive patient care, especially when the care that patients require has greatly increased in complexity. With this in mind, I foresee myself using my interprofessional skills to coordinate with various health care disciplines and be a contributing member to the health care team so that patients receive the comprehensive care needed to optimize their health and well-being.”
